By Jayde Johannsen

It's that favorite time of the year for both men and women alike, the time when pea-coats and wool socks are shoved back into the far end of the closet and replaced with light fabrics and bathing suits. Yes, spring has already arrived, and that means that summer's just around the corner. Even in times of recession, it doesn't mean that anyone doesn't need to look stylish. Brilliant woman have been dressing themselves for cheap and still maintaining the trends for quite some time. Without a due, here are some of the most economically-friendly fashion tips for summer that you'll read about just about anywhere.

There is nothing wrong with dressing up an old look for a new season, and if you want to focus on trends this summer that might end up being timeless, there's no better place to look than last season. Yes, I said last season. Sound confusing? Well, if you can figure out what endured over to this season, then you're already halfway there. Hats are definitely going to keep on keeping on, as are single-shoulder dresses, which are just simply too good to retire after only one season of reigning success.

If there's one thing worth getting this summer, it's a single-shoulder dress. They're skyrocketing in popularity, and they're actually cute, too. If you really want to do it right and have the budget, get one daytime single-shouldered dress that's in a lighter material and perfect for breezy days at the beach or in the park, and then get a more formal evening option that can carry over into the first hint of fall.

While the decades of the past have been coming back in a big way, remember that there's no reason to break the bank on a trend that's obviously going to die out. Distressed denim might have been your thing back in high school, but it doesn't mean that you have to give it a second change now. Know what to pass on, and your wardrobe will stretch that much further this season.

But I'll tell you what will be a serious hit all season--gold and silver. Not as jewelry, but as colors in your wardrobe, especially in exciting belts. Yes, belts will be the accessory of choice this summer, whether thrown onto a high-waisted dress or used to tie a smart pants suit together are an exciting new way to mix up an outfit.

Traditional accessories that were a huge hit on the runway this season were a more tolerable version of 1980s inspiration. Upscale bangles are a huge hit, and make a great accessory when it comes to wearing a more plain outfit. They're bold, they're made out of all possible materials to match your fabric, and they won't break the bank but they'll leave their mark.

One trend we're all hoping and praying catches on this summer is a lack of fake baking. Yes, far too many celebrities have shown up to premiers looking like Oompa Loompas, and it's time for the general public to heed the warning of the season--if you can't make it happen lounging on a chair outside for a couple of hours, it doesn't mean you need to lather yourself in nasty skin-dying oils or have a go at a tanning bed. Looking like a rotisserie chicken is one definite fashion don't for this summer, as it will totally ruin your other fashion forward moves!

No matter if you're planning on stocking up on all of the hottest items of this season or only have a little bit to spend to make your wardrobe just slightly more fabulous, it's going to be easy to look hot and feel hot this summer. Get a few new things in your closet and you're certain to feel like a million bucks the minute you have your first summer weekend.
