By Sarah J Jones

The world is becoming more and more global, which makes swift awareness possible. Living an eco friendly life, and wearing ethical clothes is becoming an increasing trend all over the world. The best way to show off these days is to wear clothes that show you are serious about the environment conditions.

Green living is being conscious of and living an environmentally healthy life. There are various ways to achieve this; helping to overcome environmental problems, and finding ways to its solutions, the problem of natural resources, and the ways to rectify them. Domestically how can one live a green life?

Commencing from square one, and following the basics is imperative. On leaving a room, switch off all lights, and do not leave the television on stand-by mode. Try to avoid using sprays, or if you do, go for eco-friendly ones. Take a shower instead of a bath, and save water. In order to prevent harm caused to the environment through release of hazardous emissions, utilise public transport and car-pooling. Engage in tree plantation. Use a laptop instead of a desktop. These measures need to be taken seriously, despite the fact that they can seem insignificant to some people.

Ethically produced clothes are known as green clothes. Green clothes are in high demand these days. It is not necessary for one to go out on a shopping spree if he/she decides to go green. The greenest clothes are those that one owns.

This implies that no more materials collected, sewed, delivered, or bought. Old clothes are usually unable to provide the satisfaction that new clothes would secure. However, some creativity can result in your liking the result of your handiwork. One has the option of cutting old shirts into tank tops, caprice into skirts, and long skirts into short ones. A shirt can be completely transformed by dyeing it using a planet-friendly dye.

Green clothing involves clothes that do not need dry cleaning; clothes that do not need warm water and can be line dried. Such clothes are difficult to find, though not impossible, and they are sustainable over a long period. By sustainable, here we are not only referring to the physical life of the clothing, but also to the fashion sense. Clothes that can be worn for long, can sustain their bright colours, and are of classic styles are better.

Many designers are collecting used material to recycle and utilise for their latest fashion. One does not always have to go purchase new clothes. Thanks to the opportunity, salvaged and pre-loved clothes shops, one does not have to resort to hand-me-downs that belonged to our siblings. The best part is that a huge variety of styles is available in order to suit everyone. Boutiques that are selling pre-loved prestige labels also exist.

Excluding the physical aspects, which are obvious to a limit, green clothing also involves the workers making them. Ethically responsible clothing consists of those clothes for which, a fair price is paid, and for which, the labourers are not harmed, or are exploited in any manner. Research showed some firms importing clothes from Asian countries ignored the labourers, who were over worked, underpaid, got no days off, and were threatened with legal action if they told anyone what the truth facts were. - 29959
