Men's Church Suit

By Amy P. Cunningham

It has always been the tradition to wear your best clothing to church on Sunday and this tradition is still practiced today. Of course for a man this would mean a suit but not just any suit it is a special suit that is even more special unlike the one he wears for business purposes. We all like to feel a little special on days we attend church and wearing the same clothes that you wear everyday certainly would not make you feel special. This why a man should have a church suit.

A church suit can be a simple, well designed suit, formal in appearance with a shirt and tie. Sunday morning church has acquired a more social affair feeling, but shaking hands with the priest is still done and is considered a more formal part of the church proceedings.

If preferred, a hat can be worn to complement your suit. The hat should match the suit well in color. Choosing a hat should be done with care, you wouldn't want the hat to seem cheap and tacky, or even too fancy and extravagant. For best results, a smaller hats without too wide a brim is suggested.

Shirts should be reasonably plain, certainly not flamboyant. If it has button ? down collars make sure they are buttoned. It could be acceptable in some churches to wear an open neck. For sure, these days the church is appealing to a younger population and they have become more liberal.

Men's suit can, at times, look quite smart with an open neck. And although it is not always necessary to wear a tie, this should be based open the atmosphere at your local church.

As far as what color shoes to wear, usually a pair of black dress shoes will go perfectly with a dark suit.

If white or cream colored suits are your choice, than white or tan shoes are advised. Though your aren't in the office, church is still a social occasion, and it's nice to look smart and feel comfortable.

Out of respect for other church members you should keep your jewelry to a minimum, make sure it matches and keep all necklaces under your shirt and tie. Large, flashy pieces of jewelry can be distracting in church. - 29959
