Halloween Concepts for 2009

By Jan Reese

Halloween is coming up. Have you gotten your costume yet? If you haven't, you're not alone. In fact, most people wait until there are a few days left before the actual holiday, fighting through the long lines to find a costume at the last minute.

Do you really want to end up browsing through a crowded Halloween store at the very last moment, rummaging through the remains of the costumes that everyone else pushed aside? No one does, but we just as easily find ourselves in that kind of situation every year. Try to avoid this in 2009 by acting early.

If you're still having trouble figuring out what to be this year, I'd like to offer you a few suggestions that might serve as inspiration for the costume you eventually decide to go with.

1. Michael Jackson. Not only can you be the King of Pop, but since so many are honoring the life of this mega star this year, you can choose to be Jackson from a certain era.

Whether it's the Michael from the Jackson 5, the Thriller Michael Jackson, or a later version of the star, there are plenty of great costume ideas relating to this. Expect to see the MJ costumes out in droves this year.

If you don't like the idea of dressing up as Michael Jackson, you can always dress up as our president. Expect to see many Barack Obama Halloween costumes this season, not to mention the handful of Michelle outfits we'll probably see as well.

3. Susan Boyle. If you can sing, you get bonus points. With a wig and some basic costume attire, you can easily dress up as this Internet singing sensation. Hopefully you can sing, because you'll definitely be asked to sing a song or two in this costume!

Happy Halloween everyone. I hope yours is safe and fun. Most importantly, I hope I've inspired you to make a decision on a costume. I know that the process of deciding what to wear can be a difficult one. - 29959
