How Much To Pay For Costume Jewellery

By Trevor Weir

Most women adore jewellery and can't seem to own enough of it. When you are buying jewellery how much is too much to pay for costume jewellery?

If it is simple trinkets you are looking for then these can be found in any dollar store or at any swap meet. These tend to be extremely cheap and made of very thin cheap gold or even plastic. They have no designer names or anything else and this costume jewellery falls under the category of fashion jewellery and is made more for young teens and small girls than grown women.

The next level is jewelry that costs a bit more but it can still be easily spotted as fake. This is usually of a little better quality though and from a distance might even look like it could be real. This is going to be what you would most likely get for a teenager or friend but you may not want to try and pass this off to your girlfriend or mother and try to make them think it's real.

For really good costume jewelry you are going to pay as much or more than you would for the real stuff. This will usually be at least gold plated or silver and have cubic zirconia (CZ) as replacement for the gem stones. This is jewelry that most people won't be able to tell is not real without a trained eye. What this jewellery is for is to look great and not cost as much as a piece that was genuine would.

Costume jewellery comes in a variety of prices and sizes. Some may simply not be worth the money you will pay when you can get a smaller piece that is the genuine article for about the same price. There are of course some valid reasons to buy the cheaper costume jewellery.

One reason to buy costume jewellery is to prevent theft. Most people who are looking to make easy money won't bother with it unless they think they will be able to pass it off as real and that isn't very easy to do especially with buyers who know about jewellery. You might also go with the costume jewellery if you are afraid of losing it or if it is for someone who is known to lose items like this often. It may save you a bundle when replacing it or at least some guilt over losing it.

You can find costume jewellery in abundance on EBay or in any discount store. Wal-mart has some nice pieces that don't cost a whole lot. Of course there are many sites on the internet that sell costume jewellery as well, including some that sell if specifically for things like weddings and proms.

Whatever your reasons costume jewellery is abundant and easily obtained. For special occasions it may be best to go with slightly better quality than you would for everyday use. Of course even for everyday use you will want something that won't fall apart while you are wearing it. - 29959
